Influence of non-ventilating intervals during early incubation stage on egg hatching process

چکیده

Background and Aim: The exchange of oxygen carbon dioxide (CO2) in the incubator plays a key role embryonic development hatching. This study aimed to effect non-ventilated (NV) intervals during early stage on hatching process. Materials Methods: Hatching eggs (n = 7200) were equally divided into four treatment groups incubated incubators. first group was normal ventilated condition (V) setting phase incubation. Ventilation holes three remaining incubators closed for 3, 6, 9 days termed as NV (NV1, NV2, NV3, respectively). A gradual increase CO2 allowed groups, followed by opening permit ventilation throughout rest incubation periods. Results: Obtained results demonstrated that concentration gradually increased up 0.19% NV1 group, 0.41% NV2 0.90% NV3 while remained at 0.08% V group. Albumen pH lowered all groups. highest hatchability percentage recorded All represented earlier narrower spread hatch higher hatched chick weight. Embryos chicks had hormonal levels thyroxin corticosterone. Conclusion: non-ventilation periods positive effects narrowing hatch, increasing weight compared condition. Furthermore, yielded best results. Keywords: albumen pH, dioxide, hormones, hatchability, non-ventilation.

Hydrogen Peroxide Treatment during Egg Incubation Improves Channel Catfish Hatching Success

—Three trials were conducted to evaluate the effect of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) treatment on the hatching success of channel catfish Ictalurus punctatus when administered during egg incubation as a 15-min bath or as a flow-through treatment. In the first trial, initial treatment with 100 mg povidone iodine/L followed by daily 15-min baths of 250 mg H2O2/L yielded a 26% increase (P , 0.05) in ha...

The effects of oviposition time on egg weight loss during storage and incubation, fertility, and hatchability of broiler hatching eggs.

An experiment was conducted to determine the effect of time of oviposition, generally representing different positions in the normal egg laying sequence, on egg weight loss during storage and incubation, and on fertility and fertile hatchability of eggs from mid-lay (42 wk) and old (67 wk) broiler breeders. A total of 1,800 eggs (900 eggs per flock age) were collected during 10 consecutive days...

Internal incubation and early hatching in brood parasitic birds.

The offspring of brood parasitic birds benefit from hatching earlier than host young. A proposed but little-known strategy to achieve this is 'internal incubation', by retaining the egg in the oviduct for an additional 24 h. To test this, we quantified the stage of embryo development at laying in four brood parasitic birds (European cuckoo, Cuculus canorus; African cuckoo, Cuculus gularis; grea...

Effect of Egg Weight on Egg Traits and Hatching Performance of Turkey (Meleagris gallopavo) Eggs

The study was conducted to determine the effects of turkey (Meleagris gallopavo)egg weight on certain egg traits and hatching performance. A total of 178 turkey eggs comprising of three different egg weight groups below 60 g (G I), 61 to 69 g (G II) and above 70 g (G III) were used for this study. Average egg weight (g), egg length (cm), egg breadth (cm) and egg volume (cm3) values increased wi...

Influence of incubation management on pipping position, hatching ability and survival of ostrich chicks

Despite numerous studies, the effect of artificial incubation on the hatchability and survival of nearterm ostrich chicks is still not well understood. Records from 13 975 eggs with embryos of 35 days and older, artificially incubated between 2006 and 2008, were analysed to determine the potential effect of pipping position upon the hatchability, and the subsequent survival of ostrich chicks. A...
